About Us

Welcome to Lila's Pockets!

I am the founder and creator of Lila's Pockets. I was inspired by my daughter who loves pockets. She's had many injuries due to the fact that she loves to walk or run with her hands in her pockets. She finds little trinkets, rocks, candy, you name it -- I've probably discovered it in Lila's pockets. Doing her laundry is like being a part of a tiny treasure hunt. You never know what you might find.

From this inspiration, I named this entrepreneurial idea in honor of my daughter's need to collect things. I have always loved to decorate. I get really excited when I can take something old and ugly and turn it into something not only beautiful, but something others talk about. Here at Lila's Pockets you will find all kinds of different trash turned to treasure pieces. My husband should get much more credit than he does for the creations you will find here.  He does most of the bigger painting projects and and is a huge help in the "hunt" for treasure.  Johnna, is one of my dearest friends and I'm so thrilled to be doing this with her.  You probably won't be able to tell my pieces from hers, because we have such similar taste.  She's creative and artistic and an added joy in my life. Look around, be inspired, and by all means add to the beauty of your home with something from Lila's Pockets.

Several years ago, my husband and I bought our house, which was built in 1910. We loved the character it portrayed and the history of the lives lived here. And because we lived on a budget, every piece of furniture we owned was a hand-me-down. That is where my inspiration came from and when my passion for re-doing furniture began. In order to balance the old house with the new, I found ways to take furniture and make it fit our love for history and character, without costing a lot of money. Although I have done this for our own family for years, I never imagined other people would find joy in my work. This is a creative outlet for me, and whether it's from someone's trash, a re-sale shop, or my own garage, I truly love watching a piece of furniture go from "trash" to "treasure."

I am so thankful for Kara and her willingness to let me come alongside her in this business. It is such a blessing to shop garage sales together, talk about paint colors, and to have the same vision not just for furniture, but for life.
